JAMESTOWN — On paper, the University of Jamestown women s volleyball team s improvement has happened quickly. The Jimmies are 13-4 overall and 6-3 in NSIC play, already surpassing the 10 overall wins and five conference victories they finished with during their first season competing at the NCAA Division II level. Inside the program, head coach Jon Hegerle sees a much longer process. We talked about last year being our exhibition year, so this is really like a two-year season for us, Hegerle said. Certainly pleased with the progress we made since last season. With 11 conference matches remaining, UJ has already positioned itself differently than it did a year ago. Hegerle said the change began with last season's experiences, when the Jimmies faced the strongest schedule in the NSIC and opened conference play against then-No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul.
